DO NOT attempt to operate this machine until you have bolted it down to a solid work bench. This machine will bend 6" x 1/8" or 2" x 1/4", mild steel or aluminum only. The Plate Brake will require a 36" handle, no longer, made of 1" O.D. thick wall tubing or 3/4" sch. 40 pipe or equivalent.
Adjusting the Plate Brake can be done by loosening the two upper adjusting bolts on both sides. After the bolts have been loosened, rotate the adjusting plates. This allows the hold down bar to move forward or backward for proper spacing. You will need a space between the bending bar and the hold down bar equal to the thickness of the material to be bent. More space will give a large radius bend. Not enough space will result in a bind, thus making it very hard to bend the material, if not impossible. When you are ready to begin bending, make sure there is enough material under the hold down bar so that the piece being bent can not fly out of the machine when pressure is applied. For example, if you were going to put a 1/2" lip on a 6" long piece of material, you would insert the long 5 1/2" piece into the machine facing out the back. The 1/2" lip would be bent upwards, facing the operator. Please oil all moving parts frequently.
